Rosanna Palmieri
(in her own words)
Volunteer work with the CGSAC:
My formation was done through University of St. Michael’s College/Archdiocese of Toronto - completing Level III in 2008. I volunteered in the Holy Cross Catholic Church Georgetown atrium for a number of years assisting in all 3 levels. I also served on the very early CGSAC board for a short time at the very beginning stages of CGSAC, before even a website and bylaws. I worked a little helping create a framework for the starting group to break out into committees based on functions of the organisation, headed up by a board member, based on each member’s experience and gifts. Other volunteer work for the CGSAC included translating a Foglietto from Italian to English a number of years ago. Also, for a couple of years I did presentations in the local Catholic elementary schools to kindergarten classes.
The highlight of my work with the Catechesis was the absolute pleasure of a one on one visit with Sofia Cavalletti in Rome one August during a personal family vacation. It was an amazing moment in time with a remarkable yet, incredibly humble, welcoming woman. A conversation I will never forget – her words continue to guide me.
My board service with other organisations includes:
-
board member on the Georgetown Christian School (an elementary independent school)
-
board member on the Toronto District Christian High School ( a secondary independent school)
-
elected in a local municipal election as Catholic School Trustee for a 4 year term with Halton Catholic District School Board in Ontario.
My work life:
In my work life, my husband and I founded an industrial machinery manufacturing company and managed it for 35 years – my experience was in marketing, finance, HR and overall business growth/management. This business has now passed to one of our sons. Since then I have been working as an advisor and partner in a firm assisting clients with financial/estate planning including managing their investments.
